Hey everyone

So I've not long had the new Alexisonfire album and although I'm not going to slate it it isn't that good. There's a few really good tracks on it but being a fan from before the Watch Out album none of them are like the charasmatic tracks such as Control and White Devil.

Being as I don't have much to say about it here are the 3 tracks I quite like.

I'm going to start off by saying these are all my opinions if yours differ that's fair enough I wouldn't want us to all be the same but that's no reason to gob off =].

This is my top 10 bands that if you haven't already you should probably listen to.

10: Graveltrap
Now I'm starting off with a relatively unknown band from Milton Keynes, they were signed to a couple of indie labels and as far as I know only released one album and a handful of eps. They also unfortunately parted ways around 2007 time but none the less created some epic punk fueled music.

9: He is Legend
Found out about these guys purely by accident and they have just started getting some real coverage and are currently signed to Tragic Hero Records. It's four guys who fuse melodies with some sweet hardcore licks. The title track from their last album I Am Hollywood shows they mean business with The Walls Have Teeth gives a great example of the both sides to them. With a new album out soon they can surely only progress?

8: Idiot Pilot
I've only ever found a small number of people who have listened to these guys and an even smaller number of people who liked them. I personally love them, you may have heard their song Retina and The Sky from the Transformers movie (first one) which is a perfect track with the synth and guitar opening with that dirty almost out of tune sounding riff. This though is clearly not their best when you check out the likes of Militance Prom and Open Register, Which coincidental was the first track I heard one a Mark Hoppus podcast (back before +44 released their debut). I'd go as far as saying these are a well more developed predecessor of Enter Shikari.

7: Leftover crack
By no means am I going to pretend i know much about these guys I've got 2 albums but the passion behind the politically feuding trio (I think) is immense enough to make me like them. They're as blunt as bands like Propaghandi if not more with one of their albums titled Fuck World Trade. Masterminds of an anti Bush regime.

6: MexicoFALLZ
Are a genius of a band mixing some of the best synthed riffs I've ever heard with their catchy melodic choruses and beautifully constructed lyrics that seem to capture times past, ex girlfriends and drunk rock Christmas's. They've got an album due out (very fucking soon hopefully I've been waiting too long!) and they tour like troopers so you'll probably be able to see them.

5: Mimi Soya
Another Myspace band but defiantly worthy of some recognition. These Japanese pop rockers from Brighton really know how to pop punk it! They are annoyingly amazingly catchy and I think they are fucking epic. With the front woman whos voice has the pure talent to make you cream yourself and the riffs seemingly influenced by the likes of NFG and such.

4: Smoke or Fire
Just purely classic tuneage. Grainy vocals mixed with some rough melodies. Tracks like The Patty Hearst Syndrome ignite that teenage growing up angst we all experience at some point and then Life Imitating Art that provokes at the philosophical ideas of where your life comes in the bigger picture.

3: Francesqa
Yeah I'm whoring Myspace bands but lets be fair they need the recognition and I think these guys defiantly do! Knowing the drummer mildly through a local band (Greenacre who you should probably also check out) I decided to check them out and I'm very glad I did. The song A Little Closer has this unforgettable guitar tune with lyrics to suit. Their sound is similar to Daphne Loves Derby but if anything better and clear influences from plenty of other places.

2: 1997
Again a band I don't know a whole lot on but from the one album I've got (to my knowledge they have two) I love them. They have a female and male duo on lead vocals which they use mostly to get that Taking Back Sunday style discussion in their lyrics and some amazing lyrics at that. Their sound is unique but familiar with Jacks Mannequin/Something Corporate, the mellow side of Jimmy Eat World and Reliant K.

1: Gaslight Anthem
My favourite band for just under a year now! (Although this isn't an ordered chart) As far as I'm concerned this band cannot do anything wrong, from anthems like Drive charting the life of touring to Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts which is reminiscent of a home town then the songs with their subtle (that's sarcasm) references to the legends they clearly look up to like Joe Strummer and Bruce Springsteen to name but two. Having just watched their Glastonbury set, of which Springsteen appeared for on the song 59 Sound, and their set at Reading and Leeds being only 3 behind Lostprophets I cannot see these guys being much of a secret, if they even really are now, any longer.

So that's a selection of my favourites right now I hope you enjoyed the read. My plan for the rest of this blog is if I find an album I think people need to know about or a myspace band that deserves a giant whoreage I'll post my views up here and let y'all know about it.
